We are pleased to announce the release of SNAP 14.0, a major update bringing advanced hyperspectral and InSAR capabilities, faster product reading, broader mission support and improved reliability across SNAP and its toolboxes.
Highlights
- Powerful hyperspectral processing – a new Spectral Library tool with standard-format import and export, pixel-based spectral extraction, metadata editing, spectral noise reduction, resampling and classification capabilities.
- Faster product reading – improved caching for NetCDF, Sentinel-3 and other supported products.
- Updated reader infrastructure – modernised product readers with improved virtual-file-system support and broader product compatibility.
- Improved GDAL support – updated GDAL to version 3.12.1, with fixes for performance, memory usage and parallel processing.
- Enhanced STAC support – improved handling of product-type variations and assets with multiple roles.
- More reliable workflows – fixes and improvements for Graph Builder, DEM downloads, DIMAP export, mask propagation and project handling.
- Better product compatibility – improved support for Sentinel-2, Sentinel-3, ENVISAT MERIS, NetCDF CF, EnMAP and other products.
Microwave Toolbox
- New InSAR analysis tools, including phase-linking analysis and empirical tropospheric correction.
- New MuLog speckle filter for multi-channel logarithmic speckle filtering.
- Expanded mission support, with readers and updates for EOS4, ALOS-4, Sentinel-1D and NISAR Level-1 products.
- Faster SAR product access through ProductCache support for NetCDF SAR readers and Sentinel-1 products.
- Improved SAR preprocessing, including dual-polarisation support for products from the Microwave Remote Sensing Laboratory at IIT Bombay and corrected Thermal Noise Removal processing.
- Updated terminology, replacing Master/Slave band naming with Reference/Secondary naming.
Optical Toolbox
- New FLEX mission support, including Phase-E1 support for ESA’s Earth Explorer FLEX mission.
- New hyperspectral tools for preprocessing, spectral noise reduction and improved Spectral Library integration with spectral unmixing.
- Improved PACE OCI support, with reader caching and compatibility with newer OCI Level-1B products.
- Faster optical product reading through ReaderCache support for NetCDF and Sentinel-3 readers.
- Modernised optical readers, with updated implementations, virtual-file-system support and improved Sentinel-3 DDDB handling.
- Improved Sentinel-2 handling, including corrected no-data behaviour and better resolution handling for the B1 band and masks in Level-2A products.
- Expanded Sentinel-3 compatibility, including support for the SL_2_WST Baseline 004 product format and fixes for OLCI and DDDB products.
- More reliable optical workflows, with restored access to ENVISAT MERIS Level-1 products and fixes for Reflectance to Radiance and Spectral Angle Mapper graphs executed through the graphical interface.
