SNAP Tutorials

SNAP Video Tutorials

The Sentinel Application Platform (SNAP) reunites all Sentinel Toolboxes in order to offer the most complex platform for this mission. The basic function includes: opening a product, exploring the product components such as bands, masks and tie point grids. Navigation tools and pixel information functionality also represents some of the basic capabilities.

Colour Manipulation Tool

Introduction to the usage of the colour manipulation tool.

Pins and Spectrum Tool

Introduction to the usage of pins, pin manager and the spectrum tool.

Mask Manager

Introduction to the usage of pins, pin manager and the spectrum tool.

Analysis Tools: Statistics and Profile Plot

Introduction to the statistics diagrams and the profile plot tool.

Band Math

This tutorial walk through the operation of adding a new band to a product opened in SNAP, after following the steps of choosing the target product, the band attributes, the sources and the operators for the expression.

Once opened in SNAP, any product or image has a coordinate reference system which helps locating the product on the world map. There are multiple CRS, and the the product can be projected to another system, even to define a new custom coordinate reference system.

Product Subset

The Subset SNAP tutorial follows the steps of croping a product, by selecting the information to be added in the resulting croped product, such as bands, tie point grids and metadata infos.

Calculate NDVI

The normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) is a simple graphical indicator that can be used to analyze remote sensing measurements, typically but not necessarily from a space platform, and assess whether the target being observed contains live green vegetation or not. This tutorial shows how to compute and interprete the results of the NDVI SNAP operator.

Product Export

When working in SNAP, some of the products can be changed, according to the executed actions. In this case, the edited product can be saved as a new product, in the current format or in a new format, known by SNAP.Not only the product can be saved, but also the image view, in order to use it in any other purpose.

The mosaicing operation creates a single product from two adiacent products, after choosing the bands to be glued, some band expressions for new bands to be created, or even define boolean expressions for valid pixels. For the new mosaic product, the coordinate reference system and the elevation model can be changed.
